Pups Hug During A Chance Encounter, Turns Out They Are Siblings

Pups Hug During A Chance Encounter, Turns Out They Are Siblings

Mellanie July 10, 2020

People have always wondered how good the memory of a dog is. We have always been fascinated with stories about dogs reuniting with their owners after long months or even years. But some think that they only develop the ability to recognize and remember individuals they have encountered a few months after birth. The following story would prove this theory otherwise.

It all started with Susan Killip walking her beloved pooch Rosie in their neighborhood. All of a sudden, the adorable Cockapoo started to pull her leash towards another pup. Susan never thought of it as something extraordinary until she noticed that the two dogs seemed to look alike, except the other pup has a darker fur. He also seemed to be as excited and eager as Rosie is in their imminent chance encounter.

What happened next was totally unexpected and incredibly sweet. When dogs usually meet for the first time, they tend to sniff and investigate each other before playing together. However, the two pups skipped such trivial niceties and went straight to hugging each other.

Much to the amazement of their owners, Rosie and the other dog who was later identified as Monty shared the sweetest hug amidst the busy street. It was while the two are enjoying what looked like a long-overdue reunion that Susan learned of Monty’s identity. The mystery was solved when it was found out that Rosie and Monty are, in fact, siblings.

But what makes the encounter more interesting is that they have been apart for almost ten months now. Monty’s owners, David and Jean, do not live near Susan and Rosie’s neighborhood, so this was the first time they saw each other again after being placed in different homes. Their chance encounter was turned into a happy reunion as soon as they recognized each other.

Good thing, the emotional reunion was immortalized through a photo that has since gone viral. It was not only adorable, but it was also heartwarming to see how time and distance do not diminish the sibling love dogs have for each other. This may not be a scientific study, but it also shows that pups can have the ability to recall things even at a very young age.
