Angela’s Ark is a non-profit animal rescue organization that is based in Charlotte, North Carolina. One day, their founder, Angela, received a call from a person who said that he saw a dog in the middle of the woods. She had 11 puppies and she looked very weak and exhausted. Thinking that the mom hasn’t eaten in a while and she gave birth to such a big litter, her life might be in danger.
Just staring at them
So Angela took one of her volunteers along and drove to the area that was reported to her. After a short trek, they found what they were looking for. The stray dog was lying on her side with all her puppies feeding on her. Recounting her experiences with strays that have litters, she expected the dog to become protective of her babies. But this time, the dog was so exhausted that she merely stared at them.
With caution, Angela approached the dogs and gave her some food. And after a while, they were able to get all of the puppies, including their mother, into their car. They brought them back to her house where they prepared a comfortable place for the family to stay in.
A huge transformation
On the first night, the dog mom, which they named Sky, was a bit reluctant and wary about the situation. She was reserved and quiet. Sky merely laid by her side, nursing her pups. But by the next day. she started trusting the people around her and began interacting with them.
Eventually, her character as an individual broke free. She was a free-spirit that was passionate and loving too, She loved snuggling with the people around her and played with the others as well.
New homes
When the 11 puppies were weaned and strong enough to be taken away from their mother, they were all given to their new families. Sky was left in the foster because she had to get treated for heartworm. Once she is fully cured, she will be put up for adoption as well.
