A Romanian animal rescue group called “Howl of a Dog” visited a city pound and saved a little dog named Mina. Mina was starving, underweight, and was so weak that she could barely stand up. After taking her from the pound, the rescuers immediately brought her to the vet to have her checked.
Mina was so hungry she tried to eat any object she sees, so the team had to muzzle her just in case. They noticed that Mina had patches of missing fur all over her body, so to determine what caused this, the vet took samples from her skin. The doctor also examined Mina’s internal organs through ultrasound to check if it had any damages.
From the skin sample taken, it was discovered that the pup was infested with tiny mites called Demodex. Because of her weak immune system, these parasites were able to multiply in her body. This causes itchiness and hair loss to dogs and explains why Mina had patches around her body.
It was also discovered that Mina suffered from an intestinal infection and her blood tests showed that she was anemic. So she was given certain medications to deal with her internal problems. After making sure that there was nothing life-threatening in Mina’s body, the rescuers brought her to their headquarters.
They gave her several medicated baths to treat her skin infection and gave her time to realize that her traumatic past won’t happen again. She improved every day, and in no time, her hair started to grow back again, and she was already playing with people and other dogs. With the help of food supplements, she gained so much weight and looked much healthier now.
Howl of a Dog found wonderful people from Germany who willingly welcomed Mina into their home. Now she can start the next chapter in her life with her new family.
