Online Memes Tell People What Dog Breed They Are Based On Their Names

Online Memes Tell People What Dog Breed They Are Based On Their Names

Mellanie August 20, 2020

Has the thought of changing your name ever crossed your mind? We mean, we know we love our names, but have you ever wondered how things would be like if you had a different “brand?” It’s okay if you haven’t given it that much thought, but you’d be interested to know that there are curious individuals out there who wonder about these things.

In fact, there’s a name-related meme that recently took over Instagram. It’s a compilation of photos of dogs that show people what they’d look like or what kind of breed they’d be based on their name. People found this so hilarious; they couldn’t help but share it with their family and friends!

What’s in a name

It all started when the Instagram account, @what_dog_you_are, began uploading photos of the adorably and derp-faced dogs with random names. People check the account from time to time to see if their names have already popped up. Well, that and they want to know what their dog counterparts are.

The Instagram account has more than 28,000 followers as of writing. The creator of the account, Mia Dong, is a 16-year-old from Canada. She got the inspiration from @what_cat_you_are, which has long been deleted. Dong was lucky enough to get a nod of approval from the original owners of the said Instagram account.

Saving animals one meme at a time

One of the many things worth sharing about @what_dog_you_are is it doesn’t just exist to make people laugh. Dong also donates the money she gets from posts requests by Instagram users to Royal Animal Refuge – a no-kill, non-profit shelter.

The donations Royal Animal Refuge gets from people who support Dong’s cause allow them to save more mistreated, neglected, and homeless animals. It also enables them to open their doors to people who want to volunteer and be part of their mission.
