A stray pooch named Ezra was used to sleeping on the streets. The cold, hard ground was his home. No wonder he couldn’t contain his happiness when he was given a bed to sleep on.
In September, Ezra was brought to the Fairfield County Animal Shelter. At first, he was too scared to be around people. He was shaking and he only stared at the wall of his kennel.
The staff at the shelter tried their best to help the poor creature. They knew that Ezra needed to overcome his fear so he would have a better chance of getting adopted.
The first step was to win him over with food. The staff tried to get Ezra’s trust through hot dogs.
According to the shelter’s rescue coordinator, Samira Yaghi, Ezra liked hot dogs. It was a gradual process, but the pooch learned to trust the people around him.
Slowly, Ezra started becoming friendly with the staff. After some time, he allowed volunteers from the shelter to pet him.
After five months, Ezra started his first walk outside the shelter. Yaghi mentioned that the dog’s behavior improved a lot after that moment.
Ezra became a friendly pooch, and he loved giving kisses to people around him. He became happier after receiving a precious gift from the shelter.
Yaghi mentioned that they gave one of the donated pet beds to Ezra. They never expected that the pooch would love it so much.
The shelter staff placed the bed on Ezra’s kennel and the adorable pooch was so happy about it. He sat on it and he flashed the staff with a wide grin.
It was so heartwarming to see how the once nervous pooch was now smiling from ear to ear just because of a simple gift. You can see how grateful he was for having his very own bed.
Thank you to Samira Yaghi for sharing Ezra’s beautiful story.
